Zverev’s priority is London, not Milan

In an interview after his opener from Vienna, Alexander Zverev was asked his opinion on being qualified on both World Tour Finals and Next Gen Finals tournaments.

London is the bigger event, I’m so far planning on playing these two tournaments in Vienna and Paris and we’ll see.

But obviously London is such a special event that I think for every player it’s something great playing in there. So I wanna prepare myself the best possible way for that.

In other words, the young Star said that will most probably skip the Milan event. The German is the main face of ATP’s Next Gen project and would be a serious hit for that inaugural event if he would miss it.

Anyway the Next Gen campaign is to help young players to gain more experience and grow their chances on the senior tour. Zverev is clearly far too established already, claiming 5 titles this year, with 2 Master Series titles, won against Djokovic and Federer.

Alexander already fights at the top, he has bigger goals. He has a serious shot to win big titles and make himself a future world number 1 contender.

The Next Gen event, held in Milan, would just make him tired and unable to perform his best at such a prestigious event like World Tour Finals.
