World number 1, Rafa Nadal, has decided to reduce his ATP tour schedule in 2018.
As he still struggles with his recurring knee problem, he needs to make priorities. He cannot play as much as he was in his youth or even in 2017. He decided to skip Rotterdam and Basel.
The King of clay admitted that he is still not 100% fit, but is working hard to be ready for Australian Open.
He will have a great test in the Abu Dhabi exhibition event from December, where he will join, among others, other Superstars, like Djokovic and Wawrinka.
The shock came in his decision to play another exhibition tournament from 8th of January 2018. The event is going to have the same format like the Next Gen Finals. He will join World number 3 and 4, Grigor Dimitrov and Alexander Zverev. Also the spectacular bad boy, Nick Kyrgios, will be in the line up.
The surprise is of big proportions as the Spaniard was a big contestant of the new rules implemented by the Next Gen event.
